titleOfInvention | Slurry Biocide |
abstract | The present invention provides methods and compositions for addressing the problem of microbial infestation and, in particular, biocorrosion within slurry transport pipes. The method includes treating pipeline fluids (particularly plug flow fluids) with an oxidizing biocide in an amount greater than the pipeline's oxidant demand, and a non-oxidizing biocide, the non-oxidizing biocide. The amount of biological agent is less than 30% of the minimum amount required to kill microbial organisms. This treatment utilizes the unique characteristics of the slurry pipeline to eliminate microorganisms without damaging the pipeline as expected through the use of oxidative biocides. |
