The present invention discloses an organic electroluminescent element having improved luminous efficiency, sufficient driving stability, and a simple structure, and materials used therefor. The organic electroluminescence device material of the present invention includes a carborane ring compound having a structure in which two indolecarbazolyl groups are bonded to the carborane ring through an aromatic group. Furthermore, the organic electroluminescent device of the present invention has an organic layer between the anode and the cathode laminated on the substrate, and at least one of the organic layers contains the organic electroluminescent device material. When the organic layer is a light-emitting layer, it contains a phosphorescent dopant and the organic electroluminescence element material as a host material. |
