The present invention provides antibodies that bind to the T cell co-suppressor apoptosis-1 (PD-1) protein and methods of using the same. In various embodiments of the invention, the antibody is a fully human antibody that binds PD-1. In certain embodiments, the present invention provides multispecific antigen binding molecules comprising a first binding specificity that binds PD-1, and that binds an autoimmune tissue antigen, another T cell co-suppressor, an Fc receptor, or a T Second binding specificity for cellular receptors. In some embodiments, the antibodies of the invention are used to inhibit or neutralize PD-1 activity, thereby providing a means of treating a disease or disorder such as cancer or chronic viral infection. In other embodiments, the antibody is used to enhance or stimulate PD-1 activity, thereby providing a means of treating, eg, an autoimmune disease or disorder. |
