abstract The present invention relates to catalyst compositions comprising, as internal electron donors, compounds represented by formula (I), formula I wherein: R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 are identical or different and independently selected from hydrogen, straight chain, branched and cyclic alkyl and aromatic substituted and unsubstituted hydrocarbyl groups with 1 to 20 carbon atoms; R is selected from the group consisting of 1 to 20 carbon atoms Linear, branched and cyclic alkyl and aromatic substituted and unsubstituted hydrocarbon groups; and R is selected from aromatic substituted and unsubstituted hydrocarbon groups with 6 to 20 carbon atoms; N is a nitrogen atom; O is an oxygen atom; and C is a carbon atom. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing said polymerization catalyst composition and a polymerization catalyst system comprising said catalyst composition, a cocatalyst and optionally an external electron donor. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the polyolefins obtainable by the process according to the invention and to the use of compounds of formula I as internal electron donors in catalysts for the polymerization of olefins.
