abstract | According to the gist of the present disclosure, a method for preparing a furan derivative is provided, the method comprising the steps of: contacting sugar with a single-phase organic solvent to obtain a reaction mixture; and preparing the reaction mixture in the presence of an acid catalyst Subjecting to a temperature in the range of 100°C to 180°C for a time range of 0.5 minutes to 4.0 hours, thereby obtaining a conversion of said sugar to a single furan derivative of at least 70%, wherein said acid catalyst is selected from the group consisting of homogeneous acid catalysts, heterogeneous A group consisting of solid acid catalysts and their combinations. Also provided is a preparation method of the heterogeneous solid acid catalyst. |
