titleOfInvention NMR imaging of fluids in non-circular cross-section conduits
abstract An NMR-based system (100) for measuring physical properties of a fluid, the NMR-based system comprising: an NMR spectrometer (110) for subjecting the fluid to Radio Frequency (RF) signals in a generated magnetic field, measuring the RF signals re-emitted by the fluid, and generating an NMR image of the fluid; b. a computer processor (120) for controlling the detection functions of the RF wave generation and the NMR spectrometer; c. a Computer Readable Medium (CRM) (130) for storing machine instructions for use by the computer processor and storing information relating to the RF signal measurements; d. a visual display (140) for indicating a current state and function of the NMR-based system; e. a digital electronic connection port (150) for digital communication between the NMR-based system and a computer communication network; f. a duct (160) provided with a predetermined non-circular section segment for the fluid to flow; a flow stimulation mechanism (170) for inducing a flow of the fluid in the conduit; wherein the CRM (130) comprises a plurality of steps performed by the computer processor (120) for analytically processing data relating to physical properties of the fluid flowing through the non-circular cross-section tube under laminar and laminar-turbulent mixed flow conditions.
