titleOfInvention | Methods and devices for tissue transplantation and replication |
abstract | The present invention relates to methods and devices for tissue transplantation. The present disclosure provides exemplary embodiments of devices and methods for obtaining one or more portions of biological tissue ("micrografts") to form grafts. For example, a hollow tube can be inserted into tissue at the delivery site, and pins provided within the tube can facilitate controlled removal of the micrograft from the tube. Micrografts can be harvested and implanted directly into an overlying biocompatible matrix through coordinated movement of the tube and pin. A needle can be provided around the tube to facilitate direct implantation of the micrograft into the remote recipient site or matrix. Exemplary devices may include multiple such tubes and pins for simultaneous harvesting and/or implantation of multiple micrografts. Harvested micrografts can be of small size, eg, less than about 1 mm, which can facilitate healing of the delivery site and/or viability of the harvested tissue. |
