Nylon 7 can be produced from biomass-derived 6-carbon hydroxymethylfuran compounds as feedstock. Hydroxymethylfuran compounds can be homologated to form aldehydes, which can be aminated to give aminocarbonyl compounds. Hydrogenation/hydrodeoxygenation of amino-carbonyl compounds provides nylon 7. |
