Metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL) inhibitors containing a zinc chelating moiety |
abstract |
The present invention provides compounds according to formula I: A-L-B, in which A represents a lipophilic chelating moiety selective to Zn ions ; L is a covalent bond or a linker; B is a carrier, which is Moieties capable of interacting with one or more biological structures found in bacteria (preferably bacterial cell walls) (for example penicillin binding proteins such as metallo-β-lactamases or DD-transferases) or capable of enhancing the compound's ability to cross bacterial cell membranes transport part. Such compounds find use in methods of treatment and/or prophylaxis of bacterial infections in humans or non-human mammals. In such methods, the compound of formula I may be administered in combination (simultaneously, separately or sequentially) with a beta-lactam antibiotic. |
