titleOfInvention | Methods and systems for simultaneous assessment of airway wall density and airway wall inflammation |
abstract | The present invention relates to methods and systems for simultaneous assessment of airway wall density and airway wall inflammation. One method of assessing airway wall density and inflammation involves: segmenting the bronchial tree to create an airway wall map; for each branch, taking from the map the set of locations of the walls that form each branch Values in the contrast image are sampled, and, given a sample set of pre-contrast densities, values are computed to produce bronchial wall densities for each branch, thereby producing a density measure; for each branch, taken from the map to form each The locations of the walls of the branches are assembled and the values in the contrast agent map of the bronchial tree are sampled, and, given the sample set of contrast agent uptake, the values are calculated to produce the bronchial wall uptake for each branch, resulting in an inflammation metric and by using density and inflammation metrics to determine treatment or predict outcomes for patients. |
