abstract The invention relates to a deuterium-deuterium controllable source compensated neutron logging instrument for wireline logging and a corresponding method. The logging instrument comprises a deuterium-deuterium neutron source for emitting fast neutrons towards a stratum, a neutron detector aiming at the deuterium-deuterium neutron source and used for detecting thermal neutron signals which are subjected to stratum deceleration and scattered back to a well, and a signal processor, wherein the neutron detector comprises a long-source-distance deuterium-3 neutron detector body far away from the neutron source and a short-source-distance deuterium-3 neutron detector body close to the neutron source; the source distance and the response relation are set according to the neutron energy and angle distribution of the deuterium-deuterium neutron source, and the air pressure and magnitude are set according to the neutron energy of the deuterium-deuterium neutron source; the signal processor is used for preprocessing the detected signals and controlling the parameters of the neutron source in real time on the basis of real-time feedback from the neutron source. The deuterium-deuterium neutron source is adopted, so that damage to people and environment caused by traditional chemical sources, loading and unloading sources, transportation, source locking and the like is avoided fundamentally and the environmental protection cost is reduced.
