abstract The invention discloses a method for breeding a new variety of high-quality pest-resistant green fiber colored cotton. The method comprises the steps that hybridization is conducted by taking a super high-quality pest-resistant white cotton variety strain RY58 as a female parent and taking transgenic pest-resistant green cotton variety Sichuan colored cotton 4# as a male parent, back hybridization is conducted once by taking Sichuan colored cotton 4# as a recurrent parent, and the new variety strain of the high-quality pest-resistant green fiber colored cotton is screened out by conducting pest-resistant green fiber plant group and single plant systematic selection on hybridization generations. According to the green cotton bred through the method, the fiber length and strength are significantly improved, the green cotton reaches or exceeds the fiber quality level of ordinary white cotton, the green fiber plant rate and pest-resistant plant rate reach 100%, and the requirement of textile industry is completely met; meanwhile, the ginning outturn, single boll weight and disease resistance are greatly improved, and the yield is obviously increased.
