abstract |
A method of distributing proppant in a spatial arrangement throughout a formed or enlarged fracture by pumping multiple stages of fracturing fluid in a formation penetrated by a well wherein the proppant-laden fluid is pumped in the well A substantially proppant-free fluid is then pumped into the well; the fluidity of the proppant-laden fluid is the same as the substantially proppant-free fluid. Vertically extending columns are formed within the formation. Fluids produced from the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir are then flowed at least partially through channels between the vertically extending columns. |
