titleOfInvention ADPCM codec and ADPCM decoder packet loss concealment method
abstract The invention relates to a method for concealing packet loss in an ADPCM codec, and to an ADPCM decoder with a PLC circuit. The method is characterized in that, during a predetermined transition period between the correct signal (x dec ) and the substitute signal (x PLC ) provided by the PLC circuit, the substitute signal (x PLC,m ) and the calculated prediction signal (x pred ) in each subband ,m ) difference (d PLC,m ) is combined with the dequantized prediction error (d dec,m ) to receive the dequantized combined prediction error (d comb,m ), which is added to the prediction signal (x pred,m ) ) to obtain the combined transition signal (x comb,m ) as the basis for the output signal (x out = x comb ) in the transition period and to adjust all decoder parameters. The method may be implemented in an error combiner circuit having two inputs, one connected to the output of the PLC circuit and the other connected to the input of the ADPCM decoder, and two outputs, one for its output signal (x comb ) and the other for conditioning the ADPCM decoder.
