A new improved preform 1 which enables to obtain PEF containers (bottles) with desired properties, especially mechanical properties, by industrial injection stretch blow molding processes. Said preform 1 is made of a thermoplastic PEF polymer of 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (2,5-FDCA) monomer and monoethylene glycol (MEG) monomer and comprises: a neck end 2 the neck support ring 3; and the closed tubular body portion 4; said preform is designed to manufacture containers by injection stretch blow molding with an axial stretch ratio greater than or equal to its hoop stretch ratio. The invention also relates to a plastic container 10, preferably a bottle, obtained by injection stretch blow molding of PEF preforms, said bottle 10 having an axial stretch ratio greater than or equal to the hoop stretch ratio.
