A polyetherimide prepared by the reaction of an alkali metal salt of a dihydroxyaromatic compound with a bis(halogenated phthalimide) composition, the bis(halogenated phthalimide ) composition comprising greater than 45 to less than 75 weight percent of 3,3'-bis(halophthalimide), less than 10 3,4'-bis(halophthalimide) in weight percent, and 4,4'-bis(halophthalimide) in more than 45 to less than 75 weight percent. |
