titleOfInvention Low-complexity receiver and method for low-density signature modulation
abstract The present invention provides various method and apparatus embodiments for implementing low-complexity message passing algorithm (MPA) detection with substantially little or tolerable performance penalty compared to standard MPA. A method includes mapping, at a detector, a plurality of variable nodes (VNs) corresponding to one or more user equipments (UEs) to a plurality of functional nodes (FNs) according to a plurality of received multiplexed signal usage for the UEs ) and computes the plurality of FNs using the prior information in the initial vector of probabilities for each of the VNs, excluding the first relatively small multiplications in the first MPA computation term, calculating the probability of updating the VN using the last calculated FN and a plurality of second MPAs that map the FN to the VN, and excluding a plurality of second relatively smaller ones of the second MPA calculations the multiplication term.
