abstract |
The present invention provides a method for treating MSW comprising the steps of: - providing an unsorted MSW stream to a microbial fermentation reactor in which conditions are sufficient to maintain a live lactic acid bacteria concentration of at least 10.000.000.000 CFU/L fermenting the MSW with stirring at a temperature of 35-75°C and a non-water content of 10-50% by weight for 1-72 hours, and - removing the fermented unsorted MSW stream from the reactor and subjecting it to a separation step, wherein non-degradable solids are removed to provide a slurry of biodegradable components. Additionally, a slurry of biodegradable components prepared according to the method is provided. |
