abstract | The present invention relates to a method for recovering di-trimethylol-propane and trimethylolpropane-enriched product streams from the high-boiling fractions and residues which arise in the purification of trimethylolpropane by distillation, wherein a solution of these fractions and residues is catalytically hydrogenated in the presence of an acid compound and, after separating off solids, the solution is worked up in a three-stage distillation appliance, in which a trimethylolpropane-enriched product is obtained and, separately therefrom, di-trimethylolpropane is recovered as overhead fraction. |
