abstract The present invention provides methods for detecting therapeutically relevant or higher amounts of an anticoagulant in a patient. The present invention also includes methods of classifying anticoagulants as anti-factor Xa anticoagulants or direct thrombin inhibitors using an agglutination assay in the presence of a viper venom reagent. The present invention also provides methods for detecting and classifying therapeutically relevant or higher amounts of anticoagulants in a patient. The present invention further includes methods for identifying and classifying anticoagulants as anti-Factor Xa anticoagulants in the presence of factor Xa reagents.
