titleOfInvention Expandable body devices and methods of use
abstract Disclosed herein are medical devices for treating saccular vascular aneurysms and occluding segments of blood vessels and other biological conduits that include a single-leaf, thin-walled expandable body and a flexible, elongated delivery device. The expandable body, which can include gold and other metals, can be compressed, positioned in the lumen of an aneurysm or other biological conduit, and expanded. The outer surface of the expandable body can be configured to promote local thrombus formation and promote tissue growth into and around the surface in order to reduce migration of the expandable body and occlude and detach the aneurysm or biological conduit seal. For treating a saccular aneurysm, the expandable body may be deployed in conjunction with one or more windings that are in contact with both the wall of the aneurysm and the expandable body Contact and exert force on the expandable body to help seal the neck of the aneurysm.
