The invention discloses a hydrotreating catalyst with high molybdenum density and a preparation method thereof. The invention relates to a hydroprocessing catalyst comprising an alumina-based support, at least one metal from group VIB, at least one metal from group VIII and phosphorus, wherein: the specific surface area of the catalyst is 20-150 m 2 (ii)/g; the density of the metal from group VIB (expressed as the number of atoms of the metal from group VIB per unit surface area of the catalyst) is from 7 to 30 atoms of the metal from group VIB per nm 2 A catalyst; the catalyst is prepared by impregnating metals from groups VIB, VIII and phosphorus onto a support to obtain an impregnated catalyst precursor, and then drying the impregnated catalyst precursor at a temperature below 200 ℃ without subsequent calcination. |
