abstract | The present invention relates to imidazoles and/or their derivatives as polyurethane or polyisocyanurate blowing catalysts in the presence of low Global Warming Potential (GWP) haloolefin blowing agents such as Hydrochlorofluoroolefin (HCFO) HCFO-1233 zd. More particularly, the present invention relates to catalyst compositions comprising imidazole and/or its derivatives. The invention further relates to stable pre-blend formulations and the resulting polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams. A method for stabilizing a thermoset foam blend comprising combining: (a) a polyisocyanate and, optionally, an isocyanate compatible starting material; and (b) a polyol pre-mix composition comprising a halogenated olefin blowing agent, a polyol, a surfactant, and a catalyst. |
