titleOfInvention | Method for in situ formation of material within a medical device |
abstract | Described are methods for forming materials in an in situ medical device by initiating water-soluble polymerization in an aqueous solution during or after transferring a polymerizable solution from its storage container to a space within the in situ medical device polymerization of precursors. The stored aqueous solution with the water-soluble precursor is free of free radical initiators that are introduced into the aqueous solution in powder form during or after the aqueous solution is transferred to the space inside the in-situ medical device middle. The storage and delivery system provides better stability for stored aqueous solutions, enabling them to be stored at ambient temperatures, and provides extended shelf life relative to solutions used in existing in situ polymerization systems. The flexibility to store and deliver/transport only one aqueous solution, rather than the need to use two different solutions, is also a benefit. |
