A method for selecting agents that affect intestinal peristalsis disorders and pain |
abstract |
The present invention provides a method of evaluating different agents for the treatment of peristaltic disturbances of the gut utilizing different methodological parts associated with the musculature and nervous system of the gastrointestinal tract, which communicates with the brain. In particular, the present invention provides a method for selecting an agent effective for the treatment of intestinal peristalsis disorders, wherein the method comprises: a) performing a spatiotemporal (ST) mapping step on a gastrointestinal segment, analyzing the effect of the agent on gastric effects of bowel motility; and b) an in vitro nerve tract recording procedure was performed on gastrointestinal segments to analyze the effects of the agents on mesenteric afferent nerve firing. The present invention also provides the use of the strains selected by the method of the present invention and the strains thereof in the treatment of intestinal peristalsis disorders. |
