Antistatic Liquid Crystal Polymer Composition |
abstract |
The present invention provides a liquid crystal polymer composition having a reduced tendency to generate electrostatic charges during molding operations. More specifically, the composition contains an ionic liquid distributed within a liquid crystal polymer matrix. In addition to being conductive, the ionic liquid can exist during melt processing in a liquid form that allows it to be blended more uniformly within the liquid crystal polymer matrix. This improves electrical connectivity, thereby enhancing the ability of the composition to rapidly dissipate electrostatic charges from its surface. |
