Provided herein are in vivo gelling ophthalmic preformulations that form a biocompatible retinal patch comprising at least one nucleophilic compound or monomeric unit, at least one electrophilic compound or monomeric unit, and Optional therapeutic agents and/or viscosity enhancers. In some embodiments, the retinal patch is at least partially adhered to the retinal tear site. Also provided herein is a method of treating retinal detachment by delivering an in vivo gelling ophthalmic preformulation to the site of a retinal tear in a human eye, wherein the in vivo gelling ophthalmic preformulation forms a retinal patch. |
