titleOfInvention Synthesis of aza-acenes as novel N-type materials for organic electronics
abstract Acenes such as aza-acenes are attractive materials for organic semiconductors, in particular for n-type materials. The present invention discloses new acene derivatives produced by a new synthetic method. For example, the disclosed fabrication strategy has allowed for the first time the creation of new aza-tetracene and aza-pentacene derivatives. By suitable substitution, the HOMO and LUMO levels of these materials are tuneable and deepened as predicted. The present invention also discloses organic photosensitive devices comprising at least one aza-acene, such as aza-tetracene and aza-pentacene.
