The present invention relates to a semi-solid topical composition comprising pirfenidone and an antimicrobial/preservative such as modified diallyl disulfide oxide (M- DDO)), this composition is superior to other drug forms known in the art for transdermal delivery as an anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic in the prevention, treatment and restoration of acne and post-acne lesions. The compositions are also useful for reducing redness of the skin, preventing the formation of new acne breakouts, rejuvenating existing breakouts, and regenerating skin damaged by acne. |
