titleOfInvention | Aqueous polymer dispersion obtainable by free-radically initiated emulsion polymerization in the presence of lignosulfonate |
abstract | The present invention relates to an aqueous polymer dispersion containing a chain-extending addition polymer obtainable from the free-radically initiated emulsion polymerization of a free-radically polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer, wherein the chain-extending addition polymer is Formed to an extent of not less than 60% by weight from principal monomers selected from the group consisting of: vinyl aromatic compounds, conjugated aliphatic dienes, vinyl esters of saturated C1 ‑ C20 carboxylic acids, acrylic or methacrylic acid with Esters of C1 - C20 monohydric alcohols, aliphatic hydrocarbons having 2-8 carbon atoms and one or two double bonds, or mixtures thereof; wherein said monomers are in the presence of lignosulfonate Polymerization, and where chain-growth addition polymers are branched or cross-linked. A method of preparing an aqueous polymer dispersion is also described. The polymer dispersions are useful in the preparation of paper coating compositions. |
