abstract The present invention describes a method for the synthesis of 2-aminobiphenyls and their derivatives. The method can be performed cost-effectively and is based on selective reactions. Functionalized biphenyl compounds are of great interest, especially as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, and as precursors for such active ingredients. The method for producing a compound of formula 3 is characterized by reacting a compound of formula 1 with a compound of formula 2 in the presence of an oxidizing agent.
