abstract The present invention relates to particles having an average diameter of at least 30 nanometers, said particles comprising polymerization products of silanols, cyclic silazanes and isocyanates. The particles are formed in an oil-in-water emulsion containing less than 0.1% by weight of a hydrophobic costabilizer. The particles are formed by a method comprising the steps of reacting the silanol and the cyclic silazane and the isocyanate, and forming the oil-in-water emulsion.
