Provided is a chemically and thermally stable fluorophore that has light-emitting characteristics different from those of conventional fluorophores and that has a high light-emitting intensity even when combined with an LED which is less than or equal to 470 nm. This fluorophore comprises an inorganic compound in which an M element (M is at least one type of element selected from Mn, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, and Yb) is solid-soluted in an inorganic crystal including an A element, a D element, an E element, and an X element (A is at least one type of element selected from Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba; D is at least one type of element selected from Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr, and Hf; E is at least one type of element selected from B, Al, Ga, In, Sc, Y, and La; and X is at least one type of element selected from O, N, and F) and having the same crystal structure as a crystal represented by A2(D,E)5X9, a crystal represented by Ca2Si5O3N6, or a crystal represented by Ca2Si5O3N6. |
