The compound as the bactericide of the present invention is an ethynyl benzamidine compound or a salt thereof, and the compound is represented by formula (1): Wherein, R 1 and R 2 each represent a hydrogen atom or a C 1-12 alkyl group, or R 1 and R 2 may be bonded to each other to form a C 1-7 alkylene group; R 3 represents a hydrogen atom or a C 1-4 Alkylthio; R 4 , R 5 , R 6 and R 7 each represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, etc.; and R 8 represents a hydrogen atom, C 1-20 alkyl, C 3-8 cycloalkyl, C 1- 4 Haloalkyl, phenyl, heterocyclyl or -(CH 2 )n-Si(R 9 )(R 10 )(R 11 ), wherein R 9 , R 10 and R 11 each represent C 1-6 alkane Base, n represents an integer of 0 or 1.
