abstract The invention relates to a red-increasing feed additive for parrot fish. The additive comprises capsanthin and vitamin E in a weight ratio of (7-15):(3-10). According to the invention, capsanthin and vitamin E which are adopted as raw materials are mixed into common feed in the ratio, and then the feed is conventionally used for feeding. Experiments prove that the surface of the parrot fish is obviously colored after the use of the additive, and the coloring effect is far greater than that of a control group; activities of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase and glutamic oxalacetic transaminase are not influenced so that no side influences occur to liver-pancreas of the parrot fish; moreover, the weight increment of the parrot fish and the activities of antioxidant indexes in the liver-pancreas are obviously influenced; in conclusion, the additive can effectively increase the color of the surface of the parrot fish and promote the growth of the parrot fish and has good effect in the increment of the antioxidant ability of the parrot fish and the accumulation of carotenoid.
