Provided are a material for an organic electroluminescent element, such material having a silicon-containing four membered ring structure, and an organic electroluminescent element using the same. The material for an organic electroluminescent element comprises a compound represented by formula (1), and is used in a phosphorescent dopant-containing light-emitting layer and the like of an organic electroluminescent element. In the formula, X denotes nitrogen or phosphorus, L denotes an aromatic hydrocarbon group or aromatic heterocyclic group having a valency of n+1, and at least one is an aromatic heterocyclic group. A1 to A6 each denote an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an aromatic hydrocarbon group, an aromatic heterocyclic group or an amino group, and n is an integer between 0 and 3. |
