The processor is programmed to determine from at least data input corresponding to the patient's blood glucose level measurements (which are determined at a plurality of times) whether to change at least one of the one or more components of the patient's current insulin dosage regimen and the extent of the change . Also disclosed are systems, methods, and/or devices for treating diabetes in a patient by providing treatment guidance, wherein the patient's current blood glucose state is determined relative to a desired balance point; at least one of the data to determine whether to change at least one of one or more components in the patient's current insulin dosage regimen and the degree of change to approach the patient's desired balance point; The lowest blood glucose level of the patient within a predetermined range achievable before the frequency of low events increases above a predetermined threshold.
