titleOfInvention Determining a planar examination area
abstract A method is disclosed for determining a planar examination area (1) based on the recording of a first and also a second three-dimensional medical image (2, 3). In at least one embodiment, the two images (2, 3) each map the least one common examination area (1), wherein the second image (3) was recorded via a radiopharmaceutical and via a different modality from the first image (2). The first image is segmented in the step S so that the examination area (1) in the segmented first image (4) is represented by a two-dimensional surface, through which a determination (B) of a distance between the image elements of the second image (3) and the image elements of the segmented first image (4) forming the surface (5) is made possible by use of a common coordinate system of the two images. Finally, image elements of the second image (3) are associated (Z) with the image elements of the segmented first image (4) forming the surface, depending on a criterion relating to the distance.
