abstract The invention provides a preparation method for potassium sorbate, which comprises the following steps in sequence: (1) glacial acetic acid is used as a raw material, and is subjected to pyrolysis at the temperature of 700-800 DEG C to obtain ketene; (2), beta-methylacrolein and a condensation catalyst are added into a reaction kettle for stirring, ketene gas is led in for reaction for 2 to 4 hours at the temperature of 35-50 DGE C, and then filtering and rectificating are performed so as to obtain 2,4-adipic acid polyester; (3), the obtained 2,4-adipic acid polyester is depolymerized under the catalyzing effect of a composite type solid acid catalyst to obtain a crude product of 2,4-adipic acid polyester, and after the reaction of the obtained crude product of 2,4-adipic acid polyester and sylvite, a potassium sorbate product is obtained through drying. Through the method, the conversion rate of beta-methylacrolein is improved and meanwhile the yield of the product of 2,4-adipic acid polyester is increased, the hydrolysis of the 2,4-adipic acid polyester is enabled to be complete, the depolymerization yield of the 2,4-adipic acid polyester is improved, brine waste can not be produced and clean production is achieved.
