The present invention provides a method for diversifying human milk oligosaccharides (HMO) or precursors thereof, compounds obtainable by this method and uses and compositions related to such compounds. The method comprises the steps of: a) providing at least one compound or mixture of compounds selected from the group consisting of optionally sialylated and/or fucosylated lactose derivatives of general formula 2 and salts thereof (2), wherein, R is a group that can be removed by hydrogenolysis, R 1 is each independently fucosyl or H, and R 4 is each independently sialic acid group or H, provided that, if only one compound is provided , the compound of general formula 2 is not the R-glucoside of lactose; optionally sialylated and/or fucosylated lactose derivatives of general formula 4 and salts thereof (4), wherein each R is independently rock Cocosyl or H, R 4 are each independently sialyl or H, provided that, if only one compound is provided, the compound of formula 4 is not lactose; lactose-N-tetraose (LNT) (I); below The lacto-N-tetraose (LNT) derivative (II) of the formula, wherein, R is the group that can hydrogenolysis remove; The lacto-N-neotetraose (LNnT) (III); The milk-N- Neotetrasaccharide (LNnT) derivative (IV), wherein, R is a group that can be removed by hydrogenolysis; b) adding at least one compound having a transglycoside to the at least one compound or compound mixture provided according to step a) an enzymatically active enzyme; and c) incubating the mixture obtained according to step b). |
