abstract An optical disc device according to the present invention is provided with a laser (14) for emitting light, an optical system including a SIL (2) for forming a given sized beam spot on an optical disc (1) by using light from the laser, a detector (26) for generating a laser power detection signal by detecting the emission power of the laser, a laser power control circuit (27) for controlling the emission power of the laser by using the laser power detection signal, a detector (10) for generating a gap detection signal by detecting the gap length between the optical disc and the SIL, and a gap control circuit (15) for controlling the gap length between the optical disc and the SIL by using the gap detection signal, wherein the power control circuit has a gain crossover larger than the gain crossover of the gap control circuit.
