abstract The invention discloses a chain wheel quenching method and a quenching inductor. The inductor comprises a main induction coil, a connection plate, a water inlet pipe and a water outlet pipe, wherein the main induction coil comprises a valid ring profiled as per the full tooth profile of a chain wheel, bus-bars communicated with the two ends of the valid ring, and transitional pipes communicated with the bus-bars; the water inlet pipe and the water outlet pipe are communicated with the transitional pipes respectively; the connection plate is welded on the outer side of the transitional pipes; a rectangular copper tube serves as the main induction coil; the parts, corresponding to gear teeth, of the valid ring of the main induction coil are subjected to sequence welding as per tooth profile, so as to form a shape similar to the gear tooth profile; one or more turns of auxiliary induction coils are welded in parallel on the main induction coil. Through the adoption of the technology provided by the invention, the chain wheel full tooth intermediate frequency induction simultaneous heating and quenching can be realized, that is, the chain wheel is subjected to full tooth heating by adopting the intermediate frequency induction simultaneous heating method which comprises the steps of full tooth preheating, then air cooling, and finally reheating, so that the production efficiency is improved, and the volume production for the chain wheel surface quenching can be realized.
