abstract The invention relates to a hexamine-containing additive capable of reducing PM2.5 emissions of diesel engines and an application of the additive. The additive comprises peroxide and hexamine. The number of carbon atoms of the peroxide is in a range of 8-24, and the peroxide is one or more of tert-butyl peroxide, organic ester peroxide or dicarbonate ester peroxide. The application comprises that the additive is added into diesel, and the relative quantity of the additive to the diesel is 300-3000ppm. By the aid of the additive, the PM2.5 emissions of the diesel engines are greatly reduced. Ash content is not produced during combustion of the diesel containing the additive, and the diesel engines are free from abrasions. The good coordination performance is achieved between the peroxide composition and the diesel. The reaction temperature of the peroxide is moderate, technologies are simple, products can be mixed with the diesel easily, and the additive is high in practicability.
