abstract The invention relates to an additive for reducing PM2.5 emission of diesel engines and application of the additive. The additive is one or two from mono-tert-butyl dioxirane (with the molecular formula being (CH3) 3COOC (CH3) (OH) R) and di-tert-butyl dioxirane (with the molecular formula being ((CH3) 3COO) 2C (CH3) R). The application of the additive is that: the additive is added into diesel oil with the additive content relative to the diesel oil content being 300-3000 ppm. Through use of the additive, limitation of traditional technology is overcome, and PM2.5 emission of the diesel engines is significantly decreased. Diesel oil which contains the additive produces no ash in a combustion process, and no abrasion of the diesel engines may be caused. The peroxide composition has a good cooperation performance with the diesel oil. In addition, the peroxide composition has the advantages of mild reaction temperature, simple processes, easy mixing of a product with the diesel oil, and very high practicability.
