The production method of β-fluoroalcohols of the present invention comprises making α-fluoroesters react with hydrogen (H 2 ) reaction process. In this production method, by using a specific ruthenium complex, a suitable hydrogen pressure of 1 MPa or less can be adopted, and high-pressure gas production facilities are not required for industrial production. In addition, compared with the substrate/catalyst ratio (1,000) in the conventional reduction of α-fluoroesters, the amount of the catalyst used can be significantly reduced (substrate/catalyst ratio=20,000) in the present invention. By reducing the hydrogen pressure and the amount of the catalyst used, the production cost of β-fluoroalcohols can be significantly reduced. |
