abstract Provided is a battery capable of quickly discharging heat from a casing that houses an electricity generating element, and capable of efficiently preventing the occurrence of rapid thermal decomposition etc., of a positive electrode active material or an electrolyte. The battery: comprises a positive electrode member, a negative electrode member, a casing, and a heat transfer plate; has a configuration comprising a region (30a) wherein the heat transfer plate (30) comes in contact with the outer surface of the casing (20) and a region (30b) wherein a joining material (double-sided tape (50a)) for joining the heat transfer plate to the outer surface of the casing is arranged; and efficiently diffuses casing (outer casing) heat from the region (30a) directly in contact with the outer surface of the casing. The region (30b) in the heat transfer plate wherein the joining material is arranged is a stepped section that is lower than the region in contact with the heat transfer plate casing. In addition, the region where the heat transfer plate joining material is arranged has through holes (32a, 32b) and the heat transfer plate is bonded to the outer surface of the casing by the joining material filled into the through holes.
