abstract The invention provides rambutan-shaped ZnO multilevel hollow nano-spheres and a preparation method thereof. The invention belongs to the technical field of nano-grade materials. With the method, a problem of over-complicated preparation process of existing ZnO nano-grade materials is solved. The rambutan-shaped ZnO multilevel hollow nano-spheres provided by the invention are hollow spheres constructed from ZnO particles. The hollow spheres comprise spherical bodies, and a plurality of nano-rods are grown on the surfaces of the bodies. According to the invention, sodium carboxymethyl starch (CMS) is adopted as a soft template; water, zinc nitrate and an ammonia water solution are added, and the mixture is mixed by stirring; and a one-step hydrothermal reaction is carried out, such that the rambutan-shaped ZnO multilevel hollow nano-spheres are obtained. The rambutan-shaped ZnO multilevel hollow nano-spheres provided by the invention are prepared with the one-step hydrothermal reaction by using CMS as the soft template, such that the method is simple, fast, and highly reliable. The ZnO prepared by the invention has high light scattering property, large specific surface area, high photoelectric conversion rate, and good catalytic performance. The rambutan-shaped ZnO multilevel hollow nano-spheres can be widely applied in the photovoltaic field.
