abstract Esteramine compositions and derivatives thereof are disclosed. The ester amine includes the reaction product of C 10 -C 17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives and tertiary alkanolamine generated by metathesis. Derivatives prepared by quaternization, sulfonation, alkoxylation, sulfation, and/or sulfitation of ester amines are also disclosed. In one aspect, the ester derivative of a C 10 -C 17 monounsaturated acid or octadecene-1,18-dioic acid is a lower alkyl ester. In other aspects, the ester derivatives are modified triglycerides prepared by self-metathesis of natural oils, or unsaturated triglycerides prepared by cross-metathesis of natural oils with olefins. Esteramines and derivatives are valuable for a variety of end uses including detergents, fabric treatment, hair care, personal care (liquid cleansing products, hair soaps, oral care products), antimicrobial compositions, Agricultural use as well as oilfield applications.
