abstract | The invention relates to a reinforcing and toughening method for magnesium aluminium intermetallic compound, and aims at the situation that the magnesium aluminium intermetallic compound is low in strength and high in brittleness. The method comprises the following steps: doping rare earth element-yttrium during the smelting of the magnesium aluminium intermetallic compound, followed by heating, smelting, casting into ingots, moderate-temperature tempering, cutting and forming, so as to obtain the reinforced and toughened magnesium aluminium intermetallic compound which is enhanced in strength and ductility and reduced in brittleness, and has the rigidity up to 220 HV, the compression strength improved by 5.4 times, and the compression strain rate improved by 2.4 times, and is expanded in application range, and therefore, the method is a quite ideal preparation method for the magnesium aluminium intermetallic compound. |
