Provided is a method for producing a thermoplastic resin composition. The thermoplastic resin composition is produced by melt kneading (a) a poly(phenylene sulfide) resin and (b) a polyetherimide resin or polyethersulfone resin, and contains 99 to 1 wt.% of component (a) and 1 to 99 wt.% of component (b), with the total content of component (a) and component (b) being 100 wt.%. In the melt kneading process, melt kneading is carried out by using an extruder provided with an elongational flow zone, in the elongational flow zone, the resins are melt kneaded while being subjected to elongational flow, and an inflow effect pressure drop across the elongational flow zone is 50 to 1000 kg/cm<2>. With this production method, the thermoplastic resin composition has excellent low temperature ductility and high temperature creep characteristics. |
